First Class Passengers, International Travel (excluding Australia and New Zealand), Pualani Gold/Premier Club/Corporate Members, GOV/MIL Fare Travel, are allowed two (2) bags free of charge. Flights between the United States and Australia/ New Zealand are allowed one (1) bag free of charge*. Excess size/weight or special item charge may apply.

Qualified U.S. military passengers must check in at Hawaiian Airlines airport counters in order to benefit from the below described baggage allowance. The airport kiosks and web check-in will only permit up to two (2) complimentary bags for military passengers traveling on Military/Government fares.

Travel on Military Orders

Active duty U.S. military passengers and military personnel who are retired or retiring, who have proof of official government travel orders, and their qualified dependents will be allowed five (5) checked complimentary bags per person for coach/first/business classes of service when traveling on orders on Hawaiian Airlines system-wide travel.

Each bag is limited to maximum of 70 lbs. and 80 linear inches.

Dependents do not need to be accompanied by active duty U.S. military family member provided that orders are presented at time of travel. Hawaiian Airlines representatives should validate that proof of orders has a current (recent) date to qualify for complimentary baggage allowance.

Travel on Military Orders as an active, retired, or dependent requires a valid Military ID at time of check-in.

On Personal Travel

Active duty U.S. military personnel will only be allowed two (2) complimentary checked bags per person for coach/ first/business classes of service when on personal travel. A valid active duty Military ID is required at time of check-in.

Baggage allowance for military personnel on personal travel is limited to maximum of 50 lbs. and 62 linear inches without charge.

Military bag fee waiver will not apply to US military dependents on personal travel. Bags must comply with any other size restrictions as set forth in Hawaiian Airlines Contract of Carriage.

Domestic Baggage Allowance

The following baggage fees apply to luggage that meet the below requirements:

• Maximum Dimensions (length + width + height): 62 linear inches (157 cm)
• Maximum Weight: 50 lbs (23 kg)

Baggage rules will apply based on a single carrier's rules for the entire journey subject to DOT regulations that govern which airline's rules will apply on a single ticket.

** Fees are effective for flights ticketed on or after March 13, 2024.
*Restrictions may apply. As a member benefit, HawaiianMiles members will enjoy reduced 1st and 2nd checked baggage fees when flying between the Neighbor Islands, traveling wholly within the State of Hawaii. For example, a ticket from Honolulu (Oahu) to Kahului (Maui) is considered a Neighbor Island ticket, and therefore, Neighbor Island bag fees apply. A ticket from JFK to Kahului with a connection in Honolulu will be considered a North America ticket, and therefore, North America bag fees apply. Discount applies to confirmed Hawaiian Airlines revenue tickets and flight award tickets redeemed with HawaiianMiles. Discount is applicable on any fare class ticket. Baggage discounts will only be applied when your HawaiianMiles number is present in your reservation, or added prior to completing the check-in process.

Purchasing tickets through codeshare partners: In compliance with DOT regulations, Hawaiian Airlines must be the marketing carrier on your itinerary to assure that this benefit is applied (i.e. ticket shows a Hawaiian Airlines flight number for the first flight on the ticket).  If you are a member of HawaiianMiles and another airline’s frequent flyer program, your HawaiianMiles number must be the only frequent flyer number present in your reservation, to be eligible for the baggage discount. This also means you will be earning HawaiianMiles for your entire itinerary; mileage credit will not be posted to any other frequent flyer program.

All ticket purchases (original and exchanges) must be made with the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard premium product and purchased directly from Hawaiian Airlines. Applicable overweight and excess baggage fees will apply. The two (2) complimentary checked bags are valued at the first and second checked bag fees. Any additional checked bags will be charged at the 3rd, 4th, 5th, etc. baggage fee.

Elite Members and Premier Club Members who are also the primary cardholder of the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard, will receive two (2) complimentary checked bags in addition to their membership baggage allowance when purchasing Domestic or Neighbor Island tickets directly from Hawaiian Airlines using their Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard. The two (2) complimentary checked bags are valued at the first and second checked bag fees. Any additional checked bags above your total allowance will be charged at the next sequential bag fee. Ticketing Fee

• Ticketing fee applies per ticketed passenger for reservations made through HA's Reservations call center and Airport Ticket Counters and is non-refundable. Ticketing fee applies to both revenue and award (mileage redemption) reservations.

Change Fee

• No change fees for Main Cabin, First Class and Business Class fares. Fare difference may apply. See Fare Rules for more details on change restrictions and charges.
• Name changes are allowed on HawaiianMiles Award Tickets and Unticketed Domestic itineraries only.

Change Fee for Tickets Purchased with Miles

• No change fees for tickets purchased with HawaiianMiles. See Award Fare Rules for additional details.

Ticket Cancellation

• Most fares are non-refundable, please see ticket restrictions. Ticket cancellation fee is for restricted refundable tickets.

HawaiianMiles Redeposit Fee

• No change fees for tickets purchased with HawaiianMiles. Redeposits not allowed on partially used tickets.

Day of Departure First Class Upgrade

• First class upgrades on the day of departure are available at a discounted rate and are based on availability. These upgrades can be made via web / kiosk check-in 24 hours prior to departure. North America / International: Upgrade charges vary by season and route.

*For tickets issued on or after May 15, 2017, Unaccompanied Minor Fees will be charged per flight segment. Unaccompanied minors booked on eligible connecting flights will be required to pay the applicable fee for each flight segment.

Unaccompanied Minors

• Passengers under 5 years old may not travel without a companion at least 15 years old (North America / Neighbor Island flights) or 18 years old (International flights).
• Passengers 5 to 11 years old traveling without a companion at least 15 years old on Domestic Flights (North America / Neighbor Island) are considered unaccompanied minors and will be subject to service fees and additional requirements.
• Passengers under 12 years old may not travel without a companion at least 18 years old on International Flights.
• Passengers 12 years old and above may travel unaccompanied.
• Passengers under 18 years old traveling on International flights may require additional documentation. Please check with your local consulate.

For reservations connecting with other airlines, the baggage fees and rules of the first marketing carrier applies throughout the itinerary. For example, if you are traveling roundtrip from Honolulu, Hawaii to Austin, Texas, and connecting from Hawaiian Airlines to United Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines baggage fees and rules would apply both ways.

Connections between interline partner carriers must be made between 4 hours and the minimum connection time (varies), else it is considered a stopover and you will need to collect your bags and check back in. If you have a separate confirmation code for a connecting flight, please check in with an airport agent at your point of origin. Beginning June 1, 2012, Hawaiian will not through check bags to other airline flights unless the other airline segments are on the same itinerary for which the passenger is checking in.

Exemptions from bag fees related to frequent flyer status on partner airlines may not apply when checking in on Hawaiian.
