Hawaiian Airlines is working quickly to provide flight relief to travelers who have been displaced by the shutdown of Island Air operations. We will be offering complimentary standby accommodations to individuals who were previously booked on an Island Air flight between November 11 – 17, 2017. There are two options:
- Standby on a Hawaiian Airlines flight, or
- Purchase a ticket on Hawaiian Airlines at a special, one-way $71 fare*
* Fare includes government taxes and fees and carrier fees; Direct flights breakdown to a $57.02 base fare + $13.98 taxes & fees and Connecting flight breakdown to a $53.21 base fare + $17.79 taxes & fees.
Same-day Standby on a Hawaiian Airlines Flight
Customers holding a confirmed reservation on Island Air to/from/via Honolulu, Oʻahu (HNL); Kahului, Maui (OGG); Kona, Hawai‘i Island (KOA); and Līhu‘e, Kaua‘i (LIH) have the ability to standby on a Hawaiian Airlines flight free of charge. Please note the following when considering this accommodation:
- This standby travel option will only available between November 11 – 17, 2017.
- There is no cost to standby for a flight.
- You may standby for any flight on the same day, with the same origin and destination as your originally ticketed Island Air flight.
- Standby is available on a first-come, first-serve basis, and we are unable to guarantee that you will receive a seat.
- Standby flights will not earn HawaiianMiles and baggage fees must be paid for separately following our standard domestic baggage allowances.
- You must go to one of our designated airport help counters to be placed on standby. Our Reservations Center will be unable to help you with this accommodation.
- We will require you to show a copy of your Island Air ticket or share your Island Air ticket number with us.
Instructions to Standby
Please bring a copy of your Island Air ticket or your Island Air ticket number to one of the designated airport help counters. One of our Customer Service agents will be able to assist you through the standby booking process.
While we will do our very best to accommodate all Island Air customers on a standby basis, there is no guarantee that you will receive a seat. If you must arrive at your destination by a specific time, we recommend you take advantage of the special one-way fare that we’ve made available to Island Air customers.
Honolulu International Airport Help Counters
From the Island Air check-in area at Terminal 1, walk south (towards the ocean) to Terminal 2. Go up to the second floor and look for the special help counters set up in Lobby 2 with Island Air signage.
Kahului (Maui), Kona (Hawaii), Lihue (Kauai) Airport Help Counters
Go to the Hawaiian Airlines check-in area and look for the designated check-in counters with Island Air signage.
Purchase a ticket on Hawaiian Airlines at a special, one-way $71 fare*
Island Air customers that require confirmed reservations can book a discounted one-way fare of $71 USD, inclusive of all taxes and fees*. Please note the following when considering this accommodation:
- This fare is only available between November 11 – 17, 2017 for Island Air customers holding tickets for flights between those dates. The special fare applies to roundtrip tickets that include a return segment outside the seven-day window.
- This special fare is not available on our website and can only be purchased through our Reservations Center or at one of our designated airport help counters. You may find other low fares available more broadly on our website.
- You may purchase a round-trip flight at the discounted fare ($142 USD total), as long as one segment of your Island Air itinerary falls between November 11 – 17, 2017.
- We will book guests on the most direct flight route available. For example, an Island Air multi-segment flight, Kauai to Oahu to Maui, will be booked on Hawaiian as a direct Kauai to Maui flight.
- Baggage fees must be paid for separately following our standard domestic baggage allowances.
- We will require you to show a copy of your Island Air ticket or share your Island Air ticket number with us.
