Travel Waiver for Ohana by Hawaiian Service Suspension

Oct. 27, 2020, 3:00 P.M. HST

On Oct. 9, 2020, we announced the need to suspend Ohana by Hawaiian passenger and cargo services starting Nov. 1, 2020. Pandemic-induced low travel demand triggered a provision in our pilot contract, restricting our ability to provide Ohana by Hawaiian service. However, the U.S. Department of Transportation has indicated that, in spite of the contractual restrictions, the communities of Molokai and Lanai remain covered under its Essential Air Service (EAS) program and flights must be maintained at a minimum for the 90-day notice period required under that program. As such, we are temporarily reinstating service between Honolulu and Molokai and Lanai through Jan. 14, 2021.

If you’d like to cancel, reschedule or reinstate an existing reservation for an Ohana by Hawaiian flight departing or arriving in Molokai (MKK) or Lanai (LNY) between Nov. 1, 2020 and Jan. 14, 2021, we’ve issued a travel waiver with the following options:

  • Request a refund
Refunds will be provided for unused or partially used tickets with travel dates starting on or after Nov. 1, 2020. No penalties or fees will be charged if you request a refund.

  • Reschedule your flight at no additional cost
If you’d like to reschedule your flight to new dates for travel between Oct. 9-31, 2020, we’ll waive any applicable fare difference on the same city pair for travel and same cabin of service. As part of our new policy which began Sept. 3, 2020, change fees have been eliminated and will also not be charged.

  • Reinstate your canceled flight at no additional cost:
If you’d like to reinstate a flight you canceled that was originally booked for travel between Nov. 1, 2020 and Jan. 14, 2021, we’ll waive any applicable fare difference as long as the new flight is rescheduled for the same city pair, cabin of service, day of the week and with travel dates between Nov. 1, 2020 and Jan. 14, 2021.

  • Cancel your flight and use the value as credit towards a new ticket
Cancel your flight now and you’ll keep the unused value of the ticket until the ticket expires*. Upon rebooking a new flight, no change fees will be charged, but a fare difference may apply.

*Tickets purchased before March 1, 2020 remain valid until May 31, 2022. Tickets purchased on or after March 1, 2020 will remain valid for up to two years from the original ticket purchase date.
