Event Details

Celebrate the holidays on Kauai at Elizabeth Freeman’s award winning Festival of Lights. Marking its 23rd year, this local designer collaborates with local artisans to present a collection of Kauai-style holiday art inspired by and created with recycled and reclaimed materials.

With the focus on environmental sustainability, the message is that the Festival of Lights comes from the heart, not the stores. Each year, thousands come to this unique festival to delight in the holiday wonderland of trees, wreathes, ornaments and other seasonal decorations, all creatively fashioned from recycled plastic water bottles, aluminum cans, cardboard, bubble wrap and recycled containers.

Freeman’s work has been displayed at the Smithsonian and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York. She lives on Kauai and teaches and inspires her trash-to-treasure medium.

The exhibit is open from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday through Sunday. Admission is free.
