Event Details

Fireknife dancing is a traditional Samoan art form where dancers use a range of flaming knives to complete their routine.

Classic moves include spins, catches, and stamping. Dancers are judged on each move’s difficulty, speed and style — the aim being to best portray a Samoan warrior.

Held at the Polynesian Cultural Center each year, the fireknife competition is part of the We Are Samoa Festival, where dancers compete for the title during a three-day competition.

Men and women compete in this thrilling competition.
