Twenty kumu (master practitioners) will instruct in the artform of weaving.

The annual Ola I ka Pu Hala Maui Weaving Conference includes four days of intense instruction of weaving crafts —using indigenous Hawaiian plants to make the finest mats, pillows, sails, baskets and fish traps — by 20 kumu from throughout Hawaii. Celebrating Maui and the local the Hawaiian culture, 150 students will be invited to the opening and closing ceremonies of the conference to learn the associated protocols of gathering and utilizing weaving materials.

The Kaanapali Beach Hotel also features daily activities, including weaving, lei making, storytelling, hula as part of its regular list of cultural activities.
