Prepare for your airport journey
  1. Before you go to the airport, use our website or the Alaska Hawaiian app to check in, print or download boarding passes, check flight status, change seats and more.
  2. At the airport, if you are not checking bags, you can go directly to security, our lounges and gates.
  3. To check a bag, go to the lobby of the airline serving your flight. Many of our lobbies on the Continental U.S. are shared with Alaska Airlines. At airports with separate Hawaiian and Alaska lobbies, check in with the airline you are flying. View list of lobbies
  4. Use your boarding pass to print bag tags at a kiosk, then drop off bags with agents at our counter. Please keep in mind that our kiosks no longer print boarding passes.
  5. If you need additional assistance, such as wheelchairs, pets, military bags or printing a boarding pass, please ask one of our agents and plan for extra time.
Travel smarter with the new app

Our single Alaska Hawaiian app allows you to manage your entire journey in one place – whether flying on Hawaiian, Alaska, or both. You can pick a Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines-themed experience, enjoy better app performance, and new self-service tools including:

  • Cancel or change flights, including selecting an earlier or later flight on the same day
  • Add a lap child on a domestic flight
  • Make a Special Services Request such as for a wheelchair or service animal
  • Use ApplePay
  • Share boarding passes

FAQs
Why did Hawaiian replace traditional check-in kiosks with bag tag stations?

We upgraded the software on our existing kiosks to offer a faster, more streamlined bag‑tag experience. The enhanced self‑service stations help reduce lobby congestion, making it easier for guests to move quickly from check‑in to security — often in just a few minutes.

This upgrade also represents an important step in our passenger service system integration, ensuring we're ready to deliver an even smoother and more connected travel experience across both airlines.

Which airports will have bag tag stations? And how many stations will be at each airport?

All Alaska and Hawaiian stations (including international) now have bag tag stations. This update is done on existing hardware, so guests will have access to the same number of stations in the same locations within our lobbies.

Do I have to use a smartphone to check in now?

While we strongly recommend mobile-first travel (and the majority of guests already use the app), travelers without smartphones may still check in via our website and print their boarding pass at home. Additionally, guests can receive assistance from an agent, including printing boarding passes or completing check-in steps.

Will Guest Service agents still be available?

Yes. Hawaiian will continue staffing its lobbies with agents who can assist guests who need help with boarding passes, checking in bags or pets, making changes to their reservation, or completing ID verification.

Am I able to use the app to check in for an international flight?

Yes, guests traveling internationally can scan their passport details via the mobile app during check-in, or manually enter passport information on our website, and print their luggage tags at the bag tag stations.

What happens to guests who arrive at the airport without having checked in?

We recommend arriving early to the airport if you have not checked in so our agents can assist you. While our new system strongly encourages mobile or online check‑in, guests who haven't done so can still receive help from an agent.

How do I ensure I have the most up to date information regarding my flight?

Make sure to enter your email address and cell phone number when you make your reservation with us, and monitor your emails and text messages for important flight information. Please pay attention to your flight time and boarding time, including updates via our app on the day of travel.

Will I be able to get support by calling either the Hawaiian or Alaska reservation numbers?

Guests flying with Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines should continue to contact each carrier's respective, dedicated call centers.

I noticed the boarding groups changed from numerical to alphabetical. Does this affect my boarding priority?

Boarding groups for Hawaiian Airlines flights have changed from numbers to the letters (A, B, C, D, E, F); however, the priorities stay the same.

Why did Hawaiian Airlines change its Passenger Service System?

A Passenger Service System, or PSS, is the core technology that powers and connects all the programs our guests and employees use, including websites, app, Atmos Rewards and Huaka'i by Hawaiian loyalty accounts, airport bag tag stations, and reservation records, among many others. On April 22 Hawaiian and Alaska airlines will begin operating under the same PSS to simplify and offer a more modern and consistent booking and day of travel experience for our guests flying on Hawaiian, Alaska, or both airlines, and ensure our employees can support all travelers.

Will flight codes and numbers change?

In October 2025, the FAA granted Alaska Airlines a single operating certificate to operate alongside Hawaiian Airlines as two separate brands. While we are maintaining our distinct Alaska Airlines and Hawaiian Airlines brands, flight codes for both airlines must reflect the single certificate operator under new, harmonized flight numbers. Travelers will continue to be able to select and book Hawaiian Airlines flights and experience the Hawaiian Airlines brand and the (hospitality) of our people throughout their journey. Hawaiian flights, which are now denoted as an Alaska Airlines flight operated as Hawaiian Airlines, are clearly branded across our digital channels, lobbies, gates, and most airport information displays with an image of our Pualani aircraft tail. Please note, when booking our flights via third-party online travel agencies, travelers may see inconsistent branding. We are working with our partners to ensure they display accurate information on their platforms.

Investing in our Airbus A330 Widebody Aircraft

Starting in 2028, Hawaiian Airlines' Honolulu-based Airbus A330 fleet will undergo a full interior upgrade; including new seats, carpets, lighting, first class suites, and a Premium Economy cabin. Guests will enjoy Bluetooth-enabled entertainment with high-definition seatback screens, an extensive movie and music library, and fast, free Starlink Wi-Fi.

Re-invigorating and renovating airport spaces

Through 2029, we'll continue to renovate lobbies and gates in Honolulu, Līhuʻe, Kahului, Kona, and Hilo with brighter, more open spaces, better seating, and more power charging options. In Honolulu, we'll be opening a new 10,600-square-foot premium lounge by the end of 2027; located at the entrance of the Mauka Concourse in Terminal 1.

We're also combining Alaska and Hawaiian Airlines lobbies at key airports to make your trips more convenient. We now share spaces in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, New York JFK, Phoenix, Portland, Sacramento, Salt Lake City, San Francisco, and San Jose, with Seattle joining later this year and Honolulu in 2027.

Better technology for a smoother travel experience

This spring we're launching an updated app and website with improved functionality to simplify travel planning, booking, and trip management. You'll see the biggest improvements once Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines share the same passenger service system in late April.

We've recently added self-service changes and cancellations, same-day roundtrip check-in, and seat map previews before booking. More features are coming as we continue unifying our systems.

We're also integrating seating across both airlines. Extra Comfort becomes "Premium Class"—offering the same generous legroom you love, now with complimentary cocktails, beer, and wine on domestic flights, plus up to 4 inches of extra legroom.

A few tips to stay informed: Keep the Hawaiian Airlines app updated and enable notifications for real-time flight updates. Check in up to 24 hours in advance via the app or online, and review your pre-trip emails for terminal locations, gate information, and any important changes.

A bigger network and enhanced loyalty benefits

Our combined network gives you four times more nonstop and one-stop routes from Hawaiʻi, including 29 international destinations across the Americas, Asia, Australia, and the South Pacific. Through the oneworld® Alliance and Alaska's global partners, you can reach over 1,200 cities worldwide. Hawaiian will join the oneworld® Alliance toward the end of April.

Later this year, Hawaiʻi residents in our Huakaʻi by Hawaiian loyalty program will earn a 50% bonus on Atmos Rewards points and status points for Neighbor Island flights, adding to exclusive kamaʻāina benefits like a free checked bag, quarterly discounts on interisland travel, and monthly systemwide deals.
