Requirements for traveling to American Samoa

The government of American Samoa has established several requirements for travelers who wish to enter the territory. Please review each requirement carefully and allow enough time to complete all steps, as they are time sensitive. Boarding will be denied for those who do not complete all steps by the deadlines outlined below.

  1. Confirm your flight reservations. To complete the TALOFAPASS registration for the American Samoa government approval, travelers must have a confirmed flight with a confirmation code before applying.
  2. Register and upload your travel documents and COVID vaccination cards on TALOFApass.as.gov. Submit your application at least 21 days before departure.
  3. Confirm that you are fully vaccinated. All individuals eligible for the COVID vaccine must be fully vaccinated prior to traveling.
  4. All individuals must take 2 pre-travel COVID tests and receive negative results.
    • 5 days before departure: Test #1 must be a PCR test taken at any location.
    • 48 hours before departure: Test #2 must be a PCR test taken in Honolulu, Hawaii.
  5. Complete the final health questionnaire 24 hours before departure to receive a QR confirmation code.
  6. On your departure date, check in near the Hawaiian Airlines ticket counter to pass a final symptom and temperature check, as well have your QR code scanned. Wristbands will be distributed upon check-in and will help expedite arrival procedures in American Samoa. Guests connecting from Neighbor Islands must go through to the TALOFAPASS table in the lobby to receive their wristband and clear travel before heading back to the gate.
  7. Quarantine in American Samoa upon arrival. All new arrivals into American Samoa are subject to a government-monitored quarantine directive for up to 14 days.

Returning to Oahu

There are no travel restrictions for travel into Hawaii from the Continental U.S. or a U.S. territory, nor are their requirements for travel within the Hawaiian Islands. As of March 26, you no longer need to quarantine, take a COVID-19 pre-travel test or show proof of vaccination. You also do not need to create a trip within the Safe Travels website for your U.S. domestic flights.
