Travel impacts due to Maui fires
As of August 19, 2023, the State of Hawaii has issued a revision to the emergency proclamation relating to the Maui wildfires. As stated, non-essential travel to West Maui is strongly discouraged through October 17, 2023. Per the Hawaii Tourism Authority (HTA), other areas of Maui (including Kahului, Wailuku, Kihei, Wailea, Makena, Paia and Hana) as well as the other Hawaiian Islands remain open.
