Earning Pualani Elite
We’ve reduced qualifications by 50% for 2021
Understanding that many of our members will be flying less in the months to come, Pualani Elite status qualifications for both flight miles and segments have been reduced by 50% for 2021.
Yes, a Gold member can still achieve Platinum status if they complete the 2020 elite qualification at the reduced rate, as long as qualifications are met within the 2020 calendar year. To learn more about the number of miles of segments to achieve status, visit this page.
Yes, once a member has achieved Platinum status for member year 2021, they will still receive their Platinum upgrade certificates.
Members can log into their HawaiianMiles account via HawaiianAirlines.com or via our website or the Hawaiian Airlines mobile app.
To qualify for elite membership for 2021, members' travel must be completed during the 2020 calendar year.
Elite-qualifying flight segments and flight mileage are earned from a revenue fare (tickets purchased with dollars, not miles) that earns HawaiianMiles and is operated by Hawaiian Airlines or Ohana by Hawaiian Airlines. Segments and miles earned on charter flights, partner airlines, HawaiianMiles partners, bonus miles, or miles earned through the Hawaiian Airlines World Elite MasterCard do not count towards Pualani Elite status. Miles are also not awarded for travel on Flight Awards and therefore these segments and miles are not Elite-qualifying.
Pualani Elite Status Extension
To ensure that Elite members have ample time to enjoy the benefits they’ve earned, all current Elite members will have their status extended through February 2022.
Yes, if member is either a Pualani Platinum or Gold member for 2020, they will be awarded another year of status and will not have to complete any flight qualifications. Therefore, status will expire February 2022.
Yes, a Gold member can still achieve Platinum status if they complete the 2020 elite qualification, as long as qualifications are met within the 2020 calendar year. To learn more about the number of miles of segments to achieve status, visit this page.
Members may log into their HawaiianMiles account via our website or the Hawaiian Airlines mobile app.
Mileage Expiration Policy
As you continue to evaluate your travel plans, we want to ensure that the HawaiianMiles you’ve earned are available to you when you are ready to use them. Therefore, we will not be expiring any miles from March 1, 2020 through Dec. 31, 2020. Members with miles set to expire within this time period will retain their full mileage balance. Our standard expiration policy will resume on Jan. 1, 2021.
Our current policy will expire miles balances after 18 months of inactivity. Any mileage earn or redemption transaction counts as activity. On Jan. 1, 2021 our standard expiration policy will resume and any account without activity for the previous 18 months will have their miles expired.
This policy is effective March 1, 2020.
Members can keep their account active by earning miles when flying with Hawaiian Airlines or through any of our many partners, donating miles to one or more of our HawaiianMiles Charities, or redeeming miles for a flight or other awards. For more information on how to earn and redeem miles, visit our HawaiianMiles page.
No, we will be making the adjustment to your account to ensure that your miles remain active and available for you to use. You do not need to take any action.
The decision to extend the expiration date for miles was based on the changing travel environment and limited opportunities for members to keep their accounts active. This policy went into effect as of March 1, 2020. If your miles expired prior to this date, this policy is not applicable.
Premier Club Extension
For those members currently enrolled in our Premier Club, we will be extending your membership period by three months. We hope this offers you greater flexibility to take advantage of the benefits included with your membership.
All Premier Club members enrolled as of September 18, 2020 will have their membership extended by 3 months.
Yes. If your membership is currently active as of September 18, 2020, you will receive the 2nd extension.
No, this policy only applies to those who were active Premier Club members as of September 18, 2020.
No, all active members as of September 18, 2020 will have their membership automatically extended by 3 months.
We are working to extend eligible memberships as soon as possible. Your expiration date will be updated before your membership expires so you will not experience any lapse in benefits.
No, please book a flight on Hawaiian Airlines with your HawaiianMiles number to ensure receipt of Premier Club membership benefits through your extended membership term.
Neighbor Island Travel Plan Extension
We'd like members with an active Neighbor Island Travel Plan package to have ample opportunity to use any outstanding certificates. Therefore, plans purchased between May 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020 will have booking and travel end dates extended by an additional three months. There is no action needed on your part. All plans will be updated by the end of September. All other terms and conditions apply.
No, adjustments will be made automatically to the member’s active plan.
Members can log in to their HawaiianMiles like they normally do to view and redeem an unused certificate. For more information on how to view and redeem certificates, please click here.
No. All Neighbor Island Travel Plans purchased between May 1, 2019 through June 30, 2020 will receive the three-month extension to their booking and travel end dates.
We communicated this policy change on September 24, 2020 with an effective date starting September 1, 2020.
The decision to extend the expiration date for an additional 3 months was based on the changing travel environment and limited opportunities for members to use their unused certificates.
