How do I prepare tanks for travel?

  • The regulator valve must be completely disconnected.
  • Tanks must be open and not sealed so as to allow for visual inspection of the empty tank.

What paperwork do I need?

When you check in at the airport, you must notify a Hawaiian Airlines agent that you will be checking a tank. The agent will do a quick visual inspection to confirm that your tank is properly prepared, as described above.

Does this policy cover non-diving apparatus, like EEBD and SCBA?

No, the policy on this page is for self-contained underwater breathing apparatus (SCUBA) only. EEBD and SCBA cylinders must be completely depleted and must be carried on, subject to inspection by a Hawaiian Airlines agent.

Non-US currencies

For flights departing from Australia, Japan, or Korea, the $150 fee is charged in the local currency as follows: 150 AUD, 15000 JPY, or 150000 KRW, respectively.
