You are welcome to check windsurfing equipment up to 70 pounds (32 kg) and 115 linear inches (292 cm) as a standard checked bag. We will accept windsurfing equipment that is packed in a bag with adequate padding.
A set of windsurfing equipment is a board, boom, mast, and sail, all packed together. A separate fee will apply to each set or additional part.
Windsurfing equipment bags can be up to 100 pounds (45 kg) and 115 inches (292 cm) in length but will be subject to overweight fees if over 70 pounds (32 kg).
When you check in at the airport, a Hawaiian Airlines agent will do a quick visual inspection of your equipment for any existing damage. You will then be asked to sign a limited release of liability.
Make sure your equipment is adequately packed before you arrive at the airport. We do not provide packing materials.
Equipment without adequate padding will not be accepted.
No, your equipment bag can contain your equipment set (board, boom, mast, sail) and a reasonable amount of padding material only.
In the unlikely event that we cannot accommodate your equipment bag on your flight for reasons of space, we will load it on the next available flight. When that flight arrives, you may claim your item at baggage claim. Please note that we do not provide ground transportation for windsurfing equipment bags.
