How it works

  1. Order a test kit for each traveler in your party. Please note that in order to receive prioritized processing, each account will need to be created and ordered through our Hawaiian Airlines link. After ordering, Vault Health will ship your order via expediated shipping. When you receive your test kit, open the kit and look for the blue instruction card. Do not open your test tube package until you are instructed to on your Zoom video call.

  2. At 72 hours prior to your departure, log in to Vault Health’s site and connect with a test supervisor over a Zoom video call. The test supervisor will guide you through collecting saliva in the tube in just a couple of minutes. Use the prepaid expedited shipping label included in your kit and send your sample to Vault Health. Be sure to affix the neon-colored sticker and/or write “STAT HAWAII” on your return package to indicate Hawaiian Airlines guest priority processing.

  3. Test results for Hawaiian Airlines guests are being prioritized for processing. Your secure digital report will be available in the Vault Health portal to review within 24 hours after the lab receives your sample.

  4. Once your results are received, you can upload your negative results to your State of Hawaii Safe Travels account. Please note that the results must be uploaded in PDF format. We also recommend printing a physical copy of your results as a back-up. Upon arriving in Hawaii, present your proof of a negative COVID-19 test result.

It’s recommended to order your COVID-19 test at the time of booking or at least 1-2 weeks prior to your date of departure to ensure kits are in your home and ready to use due to the strict timeline. You’ll receive your at-home testing kit from Vault Health within two days of placing your order and you’ll need to take your test within 72 hours prior to the last leg of your departure. Shipping is handled by UPS and days and hours of operation vary by location – please note that the test will need to be dropped off to UPS by their last air pick-up time.   • This test is to be performed only using saliva collected during a Zoom-enabled video supervised test visit with a Vault Health test supervisor.

    This is done to ensure that the right type and amount of sample is produced, which is necessary to make sure that the results of the test are correct. This test is not a do-it-yourself at-home test, but rather, a test in which the saliva sample collection is ordered and supervised by a Vault Health test supervisor.
  • This RT-qPCR test is very sensitive for the presence of SARS-CoV-2, with 985 of tests providing either a positive or a negative result, and only 2% of tests providing an inconclusive result.
  • The unopened saliva test kit has a shelf life of up to 2 years.
  • There is no need to schedule an appointment. When you receive your testing kit, simply download Zoom and click here.
  • Click here and select “Order a Kit.” Enter your personal details and pertinent health history online. Next, you will need to enter payment details and shipping/billing address for your testing kit order.

    The kit will be delivered directly to your U.S. shipping address via expedited delivery if purchased by 11 a.m. HST / 2 p.m. PST / 5 p.m. EST. All kits ordered from Thursday 9 a.m. HST / 12 p.m. PST / 3 p.m. EST through Sunday evening will ship on the following Monday.
  • Please do not eat, drink, smoke or chew anything 30 minutes before your testing session.
  • After completing your sample collection with a Vault Health test supervisor, please attach the overnight shipping label included. Then, find the nearest drop-off location that matches your label and send your test kit to the Vault Health laboratory.
  • We want you to have a seamless experience and recommend the timing table we’ve provided on our website. Please plan ahead; shipping is handled by UPS and days and hours of operation vary by location – please note that the test will need to be dropped off to UPS by their last air pick-up time.

    Guests are responsible for ensuring timely response times. If a UPS cut-off time is missed, the lab will not receive the test kit on time to report results prior to travel.

    For drop-off, please ONLY use UPS stand-alone drop boxes or UPS store locations. Do NOT drop off your sample at a pharmacy or convenience store even if it has a UPS drop off option.
  • When your results are ready, a Vault Health test supervisor will generate an email notification with a link to your test results along with recommended next steps depending on your test results. The test results will be ready 24 hours after the sample arrives at the laboratory.
  • No, Vault Health's SARS-CoV-2 test can be only be performed in the laboratory after (1) a licensed test supervisor orders the test for you and (2) your sample collection is observed by a test supervisor (via Zoom-enabled video supervised testing). Once the sample has been received by and tested in the laboratory, you will receive your results via electronic reporting. If you do not collect the saliva sample under supervision from a test supervisor, the test results will be invalid.
