Airports
Checking in
- To quickly find the operating carrier of your flight, simply pull up your reservation on AlaskaAir.com or HawaiianAirlines.com. Your operating carrier will be listed alongside or beneath your flight number.
- Yes. Simply visit the website or app of the operating carrier for your first flight.
- For both airlines, the app is the easiest way to access your most up-to-date flight information. Please remember to use the app associated with the airline operating your first flight, regardless of where you purchased your ticket.
- If you bought your tickets from Alaska Airlines, Alaska's bag fees apply. If you bought your tickets from Hawaiian Airlines, then Hawaiian's bag fees apply. If you booked roundtrip flights, the same bag fees will apply full itinerary.
-
To ensure a seamless travel experience, please check in with the operating carrier of your flight. For
example:
- If you're flying Hawaiian Airlines, check in through the Hawaiian Airlines website, app or counter.
- If you're flying Alaska Airlines, check in through the Alaska Airlines website, app or counter.
- For select shared locations, we have begun the process to co-locate Hawaiian Airlines and Alaska Airlines gates, please follow the signs in the airport to quickly find the appropriate check-in and gate areas.
-
No matter what airline you're flying, you can expect friendly, on-the-ground care.
If you have a question about a flight operated by Alaska, please see an Alaska Airlines agent. If you have a question about a flight operated by Hawaiian, please see a Hawaiian Airlines agent.
Baggage

For a quick bag pickup, here's what you need to know:
- For Alaska Airlines-only flights, go to the Alaska Airlines Baggage Claim Carousels.
- For Hawaiian Airlines-only flights, go to the Hawaiian Airlines Baggage Claim Carousels.
- For Connecting flights ending with Alaska, go to the Alaska Airlines Baggage Claim Carousels.

- Both airlines make it easy to print your bag tags and drop your bags, but as each airline's travel policies still apply, printing tags and bag drop-off cannot be done across airlines. If you're flying Hawaiian Airlines, you should print bag tags and drop your bags with Hawaiian Airlines and vice versa.
- Not at this time. If you arrived on a Hawaiian Airlines flight, you should open a claim with Hawaiian Airlines, and vice versa.
Codeshare and Cross Fleeting
General Codeshare and Fleeting Questions
- For First Class, Business Class, Premium Class, Preferred Plus, or Extra Comfort seating, our Guest Care teams will ensure an equivalent seat - or the closest available equivalent to your original seat - is provided to you on your new flight. For Main Cabin seating, you will be notified of your new seat number as soon as possible.

Neither change will impact your ability to earn miles. For example, if you used HawaiianAirlines.com to book a Hawaiian Airlines flight that later got changed to an Alaska Airlines flight, you would still earn HawaiianMiles via your HawaiianMiles number.
Additionally, you can now earn HawaiianMiles when booking trips on AlaskaAir.com, including flights on Alaska Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, international routes, and itineraries with flights on both airlines.
You also have the ability to transfer your HawaiianMiles to Alaska’s MileagePlan and then redeem those Mileage Plan miles on AlaskaAirlines.com, including international routes and itineraries on both airlines. To get started, link your accounts here. -
While you can expect a personal and luxurious First Class experience regardless of whether you're flying Hawaiian or Alaska, the First Class amenities do vary across airlines, and depending on the specific aircraft associated with your flight.

As baggage fees can vary depending on the details of your itinerary, here is what you need to know:
If you’re flying domestic:
The airline carrier you’re flying with will be the airline baggage fees that apply to you, regardless of what airline you purchased the ticket from. This also applies for codeshare itineraries and rare instances where your flight is changed from one airline carrier to another. For example:- If you purchased an Alaska Airlines flight through Hawaiian Airlines or Alaska Airlines, and your flight was changed to a Hawaiian Airlines flight, then Hawaiian Airlines baggage fees would apply.
- If you purchased a Hawaiian Airlines flight through Alaska Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines, and your flight was changed to an Alaska Airlines flight, then Alaska Airlines baggage fees would apply.
Similar to flying domestic, the airline carrier you’re flying with will be the airline baggage fees that apply to you, regardless of what airline you purchased the ticket from. However, if you have a codeshare itinerary (i.e. a trip with flights on two airline carriers), the airline carrier that covers the longest segment of your journey will be the airline baggage fees that apply to you. For example:- If you’re flying from Seattle to Honolulu on Alaska Airlines and you connect to a Honolulu to Kaua‘i flight on Hawaiian Airlines, then you would pay the Alaska Airlines baggage fees.
- If you’re flying from Seattle to Honolulu on Alaska Airlines and you connect to a Honolulu to Tokyo flight on Hawaiian Airlines, you would pay the Hawaiian Airlines baggage fees as they represent the greatest segment of your itinerary.
- Beginning later this spring, Hawaiian Airlines® World Elite Mastercard® cardmembers will receive two free checked bags when using their card to book Alaska Airlines-operated flights.
-

For elite member upgrade eligibility, here is what you need to know:
- If you’re a Hawaiian Airlines elite member and your flight on Hawaiian was changed to a flight on Alaska, you’ll need to change your frequent flyer number on your booking from your HawaiianMiles number to your status-matched Alaska Mileage Plan number in order to be eligible for upgrades to Premium or First Class. To get started, simply link your accounts here.
- If you’re an Alaska elite member and your flight on Alaska Airlines was changed to a Hawaiian Airlines flight, beginning January 30, 2025 you will be eligible to select preferred seats at booking and Extra Comfort seating at check in. First Class upgrades are not currently available on Hawaiian Airlines flights.
-

Regardless of the airline with which you booked your initial itinerary, if your flight is changed to another carrier, your check-in and baggage drop (if needed) will be handled by your new operating carrier. For example:
- If your flight was changed from Hawaiian Airlines to Alaska Airlines, you would check in with Alaska Airlines to use your smartphone as your boarding pass. If you are checking any bags, please do so with Alaska Airlines.
- If your flight was changed from Alaska Airlines to Hawaiian Airlines, you would check in with Hawaiian Airlines to use your smartphone as your boarding pass. If you are checking any bags, please do so with Hawaiian Airlines.
- To receive your boarding pass for a connecting flight between Alaska and Hawaiian, please see an agent from the airline operating your flight upon arriving at your connecting airport. They will be happy to assist and provide you with your boarding pass.
- Finding your connecting flight should not be a hassle. For your most up-to-date gate information, simply check the mobile app associated with the airline operating your flight or check the airport information displays.
-
