Updates on the Kona International Airport (KOA) emergency repairs

Operations at Kona International Airport (KOA) have resumed after the State of Hawaii had closed the runway for emergency repairs.

A travel waiver is available for guests traveling to/from Kona (KOA) on Hawaiian Airlines on Feb. 13, 2024.

  • Reschedule your flight at no additional cost:
    Guests traveling on Hawaiian Airlines to/ from Kona (KOA) on Feb. 13, 2024 can reschedule their flights. No change fees will be charged, and we’ll waive any applicable fare difference on the same cabin of service. Tickets can be booked for new travel to/from Hilo (ITO) or Kona (KOA). Tickets must be rebooked into the same compartment (Main Cabin or First/Business Cabin) and travel must occur by Feb.15, 2024. Itineraries with travel outside of these periods would not be eligible for waiver of a fare difference.

  • Cancel your flight and use the value as credit towards a new ticket:
    Guests traveling on Hawaiian Airlines to/ from Kona (KOA) on Feb. 13, 2024 can cancel their flights now and keep the unused value of the ticket until the ticket expires*. Upon rebooking a new flight, no change fees will be charged, but a fare difference may apply.

    *Tickets must be booked and flown within 1 year of the original date of purchase.
