E komo mai! Come be a part of our growing ‘Ohana! Hawaiian Airlines (HA) is seeking college students who are interested in joining our 2021 Summer Internship program. We are offering a paid internship program that will give college students the opportunity to work on exciting projects and interact with professional experts in their chosen field. During the eight-week program (6/21/21 – 8/13/21), interns will learn about the airline industry and gain valuable transferrable skills that will prepare them for their future. Interns will be partnered with a mentor in on one of Hawaiian Airlines’ departments.

Internships are currently being planned to be completed in person, onsite, at our corporate office in Honolulu, or in our Phoenix Tech Center, as indicated. Given the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, we may elect to conduct internships virtually, or in a hybrid model of both remote and onsite, if local conditions indicate an alternate course of action.

Hawaiian Airlines is seeking interns with the following key attributes:

Minimum Requirements:

  • Eligible to work in the United States. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship, such as an H-1B visa, by Hawaiian Airlines
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university OR received undergraduate degree not more than 6 months from the time of application
  • Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher at the time of application
  • Available to participate in the eight-week internship period from Monday, June 21 through Friday, August 13, 2021 and intern 40 hours per week
  • Successfully pass a pre-employment drug test and background check

  • Integrated Marketing - stewards and grows Hawaiian Airlines owned marketing channels (email, social media and web content) to drive interest in Hawaii as a destination and HA as a preferred carrier of choice. We produce content that resonates with kama‘āina and U.S. Mainland/international guests, while always staying true to authentic Hawaiian culture, absent of stereotypes and clichés. Our team facilitates and creates integrated marketing programs that provide guests a consistent experience across channels and platforms and drive business results. We are responsible for the creation of assets, from concept to execution, for a wide variety of projects for use across marketing channels in all of our marketing, domestic and international.
  • Global Advertising - is responsible for building awareness and preference for Hawaiian Airlines in all markets we serve. This includes consumer advertising across both Hawaii, mainland and international markets. We look after high funnel efforts like traditional television and radio, digital video, out-of-home, and low-funnel acquisition efforts like digital display and paid search. We lead the development of branding campaigns, often including ad spots and digital assets, that set our airline apart from all others serving Hawaii.

  • Engineering - responsible for any structural related items ensuring continued airworthiness/safety of the airplane before, during and after airplane day to day operation and/or until the airplane “service life” is reached. The team ensures that the airplane/aircraft structures are in compliance with the latest/updated regulatory/manufacturer requirements. They also analyze in-service damages and provide necessary engineering recommendation to support Hawaiian Airlines airplane operational requirements without compromising safety.
  • Analyst - As part of the larger Tech Ops organization, the scope of Business Planning & Initiatives (BPI) has grown to include 5 key areas in support of several operations departments such as M&E and Flight Ops within Tech Ops and Operations in general: 1) staff modeling, productivity management, business case development and financial management, 2) vendor negotiations and performance management, 3) business process and technology enablement, 4) Tech Ops initiatives, and 5) Operations Analytics.

  • Airport Operations - is responsible for designing, building and maintaining applications to better serve our guests in our airports across the globe. IT AO helps bring modern applications to the lobbies, terminals and aircraft that are part of the Hawaiian Airlines O’hana. These services empower our guests to navigate through the airport on their day of departure efficiently, reliably and safely.
  • Common Services IX - The IX team is an operationally innovative, high performing team within IT Common Services leveraging Sabre Intelligence Exchange. We support & power use cases for several company essential real-time applications: Fraud, Plusgrade, MCB, Native Mobile App, and Flight ODS.
  • DevOps - The DevOps team is working to bring continuous delivery and agile execution practices to Hawaiian Airlines teams around the world. We work to deliver a diverse portfolio of applications, from new web applications, mobile applications, kiosks and even devices used by pilots and employees at the airports.
  • Mobile Team – The mobile team is part of the Loyalty and Reservations IT department which is aligned with the Commercial business division. The mobile team supports the Native Mobile App for iOS and Android which allows passengers to book and shop for future travel as well as check in for flights and other day of travel functions.
  • Website Commercial and Shopping - The Commercial Web team is responsible for maintenance, enhancement, and innovation of the hawaiianairlines.com website. We enable millions of guests to book travel on our airline and offer other trip enhancements such as hotel and rental car packages. The Shopping team has particular focus on the guests’ online experience of selecting, booking, and purchasing flights.
  • Website Marketing and Web - The Marketing and Web team is responsible for supporting the hawaiianairlines.com website through root-cause analysis, design solutions, writing code, performing testing, providing documentation, and implementing a small development project or component of a large project within a specific technology.
