North America & International Flights
Pualani Platinum or Gold Members may list themselves for a complimentary seat (based on availability) with an agent at the customer service podium in the gate area. Extra Comfort/Preferred Seats will be assigned to Pualani Platinum Members first, then Pualani Gold Members.
Pualani Platinum and Gold members may enjoy complimentary upgrades to Extra Comfort/Preferred Seats on all Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights to/from North America and International destinations, subject to seat availability. This benefit is applicable to the Elite Member. Be sure your HawaiianMiles number is present in your reservations, or added prior to completing the check-in process. When checking in for your flight via web / airport kiosk / mobile (24 hours prior to departure), you can add yourself to the standby list for the seat upgrade. Seating will be assigned by priority of status (Pualani Platinum before Pualani Gold), and then on a first-Come, first-served basis.
Extra Comfort seats are available across all our Airbus 330 and 321 aircrafts, offering more leg room, priority services and additional amenities to make your travel experience more comfortable. Pualani Platinum and Gold members can enjoy complimentary upgrades to Extra Comfort seats on all Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights, subject to availability. Seat upgrades to Extra Comfort include all seat types - aisle, window and middle, and seats will be assigned near the front of the aircraft. Once a seat has been assigned, no changes are permitted.
If you already have a seat assignment for your existing Coach ticket, our systems will automatically assign you a seat in Extra Comfort/Preferred Seats, based on like-for-like seating, subject to seat availability. For example, if you have an existing aisle seat in Coach, our systems will look for an aisle seat within Extra Comfort/Preferred Seats. If one is not available, the system will look for the next best available seat, which may be a window or a middle seat. Seating assignments occur at the departure gate, once the check-in window closes. You will be notified by the gate agent if your upgrade is confirmed and you will be issued a new boarding Pass. At that time, your original seat assignment is released back into our systems and may be assigned to another guest.
Seating assignments are automatically handled by our systems. Due to seat availability, please be aware that your new assignment may be a middle seat in Extra Comfort/Preferred Seats. Once the new upgraded seat is confirmed, we are unable to cancel the request and put you back in your original Coach seat. Once a seat is assigned, no seat changes are permitted. This may impact your decision to take advantage of the complimentary upgrade if you have a specific seat type preference, or if you are traveling with others in your party and want to be seated together.
Revenue Tickets (all Coach Fare classes) and flight award tickets are eligible for the complimentary upgrade, subject to seat availability.
Neighbor Island Flights
If a First Class upgrade is not available and you're a Pualani Platinum member, you can select a complimentary Preferred Seat on all Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights to the Neighbor Islands, subject to seat availability. This benefit is applicable to the Elite member only. Be sure your HawaiianMiles number is present in your reservations, or added prior to completing the check-in process. When checking in for your flight via web / airport kiosk / mobile (24 hours prior to departure), you can secure a First Class or Preferred Seat if it's available. You can also request a seat with an Airport Customer Service agent.
Pualani Gold Members can enjoy complimentary upgrades to Preferred Seats on all Hawaiian Airlines-operated flights to the Neighbor Islands, subject to seat availability. A Platinum member may redeem one (1) certificate in exchange for one (1) complimentary upgrade to First Class on a one-way flight between Hawaii and North America, excluding Boston (MA) and New York, NY (JFK).
A Platinum member may redeem two (2) certificates in exchange for one (1) complimentary upgrade to First/Business class on a one-way flight between Hawaii and International destinations, Boston (MA) or New York, NY (JFK) on Hawaiian Airlines flights.
Platinum member may use a certificate to redeem an upgrade for a companion, provided the companion are on the same itinerary sharing the same Hawaiian Airlines reservation code.
Requests to redeem certificates can be made through MYTRIPS on HawaiianAirlines.com or by calling Hawaiian Airlines Reservations no earlier than 30 days prior to travel date. Requests can be submitted no later than 72 hours (through MYTRIPS) or 4 hours (through Hawaiian Airlines Reservations) before the scheduled departure time. A member may not hold more than one elite membership type. Membership will automatically default to the higher level.
