Kaunolu Fishing Village

You’ll need a 4-wheel drive vehicle to see the remains of this historic fishing village on the southern tip of the island. Kaunolu Village was a favorite fishing spot of King Kamehameha I in the 1790s and a place where he often retreated after battle. 

There are heiau (sacred Hawaiian temples), petroglyphs and breathtaking views of the rugged sea cliffs below.
