Fifty-five-acre Pearlridge Center is Hawaii’s largest indoor shopping center. The majority of its 224 stores and restaurants are in “Uptown” and “Downtown”; a monorail provides transportation between the two areas for shoppers who prefer not to walk. In addition to anchor tenants Sears and Macy’s, there’s a plethora of specialty shops, including Hana Paa, which sells fishing, snorkeling and diving gear; Things Remembered, where virtually anything can be engraved or monogrammed; and Pandora, offering an irresistible collection of precious and semi-precious stone jewelry.
Pearlridge is also home to a 16-plex theater, two food courts and two arcades featuring the latest high-tech interactive games. Special events include a weekly farmers’ market; monthly school musical performances; quarterly classic car shows; and annual cultural events such as Japanese ikebana exhibits for the Cherry Blossom Festival, kung fu demonstrations for the Chinese Narcissus Festival, and hula performed by 600 adorable children at the Keiki Hoolaulea. Come fall, teams of architects, builders, and design and engineering professionals create amazing structures from canned goods at Canstruction, a benefit for the Hawaii Foodbank.
